At age 50, having raised three daughters with her husband Dr. Buddy Biggers, Betsy decided to enter graduate school in Clinical Psychology. At this time she had been in Jungian Analysis for three years and felt that the Jungian approach toward helping people better understand themselves was the orientation she was seeking in route to becoming a psychotherapist.

In her search for a graduate program that combined soul and psyche, she found Pacifica Graduate Institute, in Santa Barbara, California. For five years Betsy commuted once a month from Asheville, NC to Santa Barbara for three days of intensive study, ultimately obtaining both her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She has been in private practice as a psychotherapist in Asheville since 1995. Betsy's practice includes work with adults, teenagers, children, families, couples, (straight, gay, and lesbian) as well as parenting issues.
